We are only a few weeks away from the start of the 18th edition of the biggest T20 league in the world, the IPL 2025. As if this news was not enough, the Indian cricket fans are almost on cloud 9 after seeing their team enter yet another CT final. This is India’s third consecutive appearance in the CT final since 2013. 

With happiness at the peak, the excitement surrounding the Indian Premier League is even higher. The IPL 2025 Mega Auction was a huge success, and all teams look great on paper, with not a single team gaining a fair advantage as they would have liked. Each team is filled with quality players who can turn the match on their own. But if we had to compare all 10 teams basis certain parameters, how would they rank?

Well, let’s look at the best squad and players ranking for all 10 teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While calculating the rankings, we will consider the best players for each team. An ideal squad is where each team has at least 4 strong batters, 3 all-rounders, and at least 4 quality bowlers. The team that looks complete in all or most of the departments will be ranked higher. So, let’s get straight to the analysis.

#10: Lucknow Super Giants 

At number 10, we have the Lucknow Super Giants team, and the team’s lack of all-rounders and Overseas bowlers is the main reason they are in this position. The LSG team has one of the best batters in the competition, but in terms of all-rounders, they have Mitchell Marsh, who mostly remains injured, and Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad, who are decent all-rounders. The LSG team has an all-Indian inexperienced bowling attack, which can go against them in pressure situations.

#9: Punjab Kings

For number 9, we have Punjab Kings, and they are in this position due to the least importance being given to starting 11. PBKS have many Overseas backups in their side, which will be useful when they lose their first-choice Overseas players. But when it comes to their starting 11, the team will have to rely on the inexperience of Shashank Singh, Prabsimran Singh, Kuldeep Sen, Nehal Wadhera, etc.

Top 4 Batters & WKs: Shashank Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Josh Inglis (o) & Prabsimran Singh

Best 3 All-rounders: Azmatullah Omerzai (o), Glenn Maxwell (o), Marco Jansen (o) & Marcus Stoinis (o)

Top 4 Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Sen, Lockie Ferguson (o) & Yuzvendra Chahal

#8: Delhi Capitals

Number 8 belongs to Delhi Capitals, and one can easily see the bottom 3 teams are the ones that have never won an IPL trophy as yet. Nevertheless, Delhi Capitals have a brilliant bowling lineup with 4-5 quality bowlers being there. But the team falls short in terms of all-rounders with Axar Patel being the only good name there. In terms of batting, Delhi Capitals have big names in the side, and will be hoping these 4-5 batters come good.

#7: Rajasthan Royals

At number 7, we have the Rajasthan Royals team, and they seem to have a balanced attack with them. The team will rely on their Indian batters, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riya Parag, and Dhruv Jurel. However, RR lack quality all-rounders in their side, and will have to rely on Wanindu Hasaranga and Nitish Rana. The bowling looks good with an experienced quartet of Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, and Tushar Deshpande.

#6: Kolkata Knight Riders

At number 6, we have the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, and it could be surprising to find them in this position. Well, there is nothing much wrong with the KKR team, but the competition looks so intense after the Mega Auction that most teams have been able to build a solid squad. KKR have been able to retain most of their core, but the loss of Phil Salt and Mitchell Starc could be problematic for them. Hopefully, the like-for-like replacements, Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje come good for them.

Best 3 All-rounders: Andre Russell (o), Sunil Narine (o) & Ramandeep Singh

#5: Gujarat Titans

For number 5, we have the Gujarat Titans team, and their major strength is the presence of many match winners in the side. Be it Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, Sai Sudharsan in the batting, or Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, or Mohammed Siraj in the bowling. All these are quality players. The only drawback in the team is the lack of quality all-rounders with Washington Sundar being the only standout.

#4: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Number 4 belongs to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, and the team has ideal T20 players in their setup. Right from Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Ishan Kishan at the top to Nitish Reddy in the middle, and Harshal Patel, Pat Cummins, or Mohammed Shami in the bowling, SRH have many quality players in the side. However, the only drawback with the team is the lack of all-rounders as Abhishek Sharma, Brydon Carse, and even Nitish Reddy aren’t the most reliable all-rounders in the IPL.

#3: Royal Challengers Bengaluru

At number 3, we have a surprise in the form of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The RCB team feels quite complete this time around with quality experience present in the side. The mix of Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, Jitesh Sharma, and Phil Salt in the batting department is quite good. The all-rounder duties relying on Krunal Pandya and Liam Livingstone aren’t bad either. Wheras the bowling looks potent with the presence of Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, and Nuwan Thushara.

Top 4 Batters & WKs: Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, Jitesh Sharma & Phil Salt (o)

For number 2, we have Chennai Super Kings, and the team feels complete in almost all areas. Be it relying on batting on Shivam Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, or MS Dhoni, the batting looks complete. Similarly, the all-rounder department looks solid with the presence of Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Rachin Ravindra. The bowling department also looks solid with the presence of Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Noor Ahmad.

#1: Mumbai Indians 

Finally, at the top, we have the Mumbai Indians team with hardly any gaps in the side. The team looks potent in all areas, especially the batting department. MI have solid batters in their side with reliance on Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Rohit Sharma, and Ryan Rickelton. The all-round department is also solid with the likes of Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, and Will Jacks being there. Similarly, the bowling looks solid with the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, and Trent Boult. The only challenge MI might face is the injury concern for their bowlers. If MI can cover that, they can go a long way.
