Scenario One – 4 Players Retained

Scenario Two – 5 Players Retained

Talking about scenario two of retaining 5 players, Mumbai Indians should mostly opt for Ishan Kishan above Tilak Varma. Sure, Tilak Varma is an exciting talent, but Kishan is a more experienced and proven player, and thus should get a chance first. So, expect Mumbai Indians to retain Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, and Ishan Kishan when it comes to retaining 5 players.

Scenario Three – 6 Players Retained

Moving on to the last scenario, it should ideally have been Tilak Varma. But doubt BCCI will allow retaining more than 4 Indian players if 6 retentions are allowed. So, in this scenario, the next best bet among Overseas players is either Dewald Brevis or Nuwan Thushara. Brevis hasn’t lived on to his Junior Abd tag as yet, but there’s definitely potential there.
