KKR vs RCB to kick-start things in our full schedule and fixtures list IST timing download for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The Indian Premier League, the hottest and the biggest T20 league in the world is like a festival in India. These two months, which succeeds the Holi festival in India bring the Festival of Joy and Fun for 2 whole months. Every year from March to May, people take time from their busy schedules to enjoy the IPL matches scheduled in the evening. These matches come as a refresher as people cheer not only for their favourite teams and players, but also for proper cricket.
The IPL 2024 had seen Kolkata Knight Riders winning the IPL trophy for the third time. They remain one of the only three teams to have won an IPL trophy 3 times or more. Having won the IPL trophy last year, KKR get the privilege of not only hosting the opening match of the tournament, but also the final. The IPL 2025 kick-starts with KKR vs RCB match in Kolkata on March 22, and the final will be played in Kolkata on May 25th.
The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League will once again follow the IPL 2024 format with 5 teams being divided into two groups. Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Punjab Kings have been placed in Group A. Whereas Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants are placed in Group B. While each team in their respective group will play the other teams twice, and will play the teams from the other group once.
IPL 2025 Concept of Parallel Scheduling
However, there is a concept of parallel matches where each team plays one team from the other group twice instead of once. So, we should see KKR vs SRH twice, RCB vs DC twice, RR vs GT twice, CSK vs MI twice, and PBKS vs LSG twice. So, overall, each team will play 5 teams twice, and the other four teams once; thus a total of 14 group stage matches per team before the Knockouts as usual.
The IPL 2025 will continue with the traditional Home and Away format with each team playing 7 home matches and 7 away matches. However, there are a few teams who will have more than one home location. For example, Rajasthan Royals will see Jaipur and Guwahati as their home location. Whereas Punjab Kings will see Dharamsala and New Chandigarh as their home location. Similarly, Sunrisers Hyderabad will see Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam as their home location.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest and most powerful Cricket Board in the world. Given such strong credentials, these two months will witness almost nil International matches. Even Pakistan, whose players are not allowed to participate in the IPL will not see any matches schedule during this period. The power of BCCI is amazing, and with more than 60 Overseas players participating in the tournament, everyone wants to be a part of it, and earn humongous money.
IPL 2025 Injury Concerns
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 saw many star players missing the tournament due to injury concerns. Among the star players who were missing from the tournament were Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Lockie Ferguson, etc. These players are expected to feature in the first-choice playing 11 of their respective teams in the IPL, but it looks like they will mostly miss a few games before being fully fit.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2025 has already seen a few injury replacements being announced by the teams. From Mumbai Indians, Allah Ghazanfar and Lizaad Williams have been replaced by Mujeeb ur Rahman and Corbin Bosch respectively. Whereas from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Brydon Carse has been replaced by Wiaan Mulder. It is also expected that Mayank Yadav may miss the first half of the tournament due to injury.
