IPL 2023: Full Retained Players List and Purse Left for All 10 Teams
Delhi Capitals retain the most number of players as we look at the official final retained squad, players list and Purse left for all 10 teams for IPL 2023.
November 15! Remember the date as IPL 2023 officially kicks off with the Player retentions for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. All 10 teams combined have retained a total of 163 players for IPL 2023. This includes 113 Indian players and 50 overseas players.
Delhi Capitals have retained the most number of players, 20. They are followed by CSK, Gujarat Titans, and RCB, who have retained 18 each. Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals have retained 16 players each. Whereas LSG have retained 15, KKR have retained 14, and SRH have retained 12 players.
From the purse value point of view, out of a total of INR 950 crores given to the 10 teams, INR 731.5 crores have been utilized to retain 163 players; that’s roughly INR 4.5 crores per player. Whereas INR 12.3 crores are additional purse deducted for improper salary bifurcation of 2022 retained players.
The teams now have a combined availability of 87 players with a maximum of 30 overseas that can be purchased. 10 teams combined can spend a total of INR 206.5 crores on these 87 players. LSG, RR, and SRH have the maximum availability of 4 overseas players for the Auction.
The IPL 2023 Auction is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi. Before that, the teams have more than a month to think about the players that they would like to purchase. #1: Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings have retained their core as expected, but in the process, they let go of one of their most valuable players Dwayne Bravo. Along with Bravo, CSK released the likes of Adam Milne, C. Hari Nishaanth, Chris Jordan, Bhagath Varma, KM Asif, N. Jagadeesan, and Robin Uthappa.
Overall, Chennai Super Kings retained a total of 18 players including 6 overseas players. They now have INR 20.45 crores in their purse with space available for 7 players including a maximum of 2 overseas players.

Whereas they traded Shardul Thakur to KKR for Aman Khan. DC now have INR 19.45 crores in their purse with space available for 5 players including a maximum of 2 overseas players.

They have retained only 4 overseas players, and they would have a hard time filling the remaining spots. Meanwhile, KKR traded in Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Overall, KKR released the most number of players in the pool. This includes the likes of Aaron Finch, Abhijeet Tomar, Ajinkya Rahane, Alex Hales, Ashok Sharma, Baba Indrajith, Chamika Karunaratne, Mohammad Nabi, Pat Cummins, Pratham Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Rasikh Salam Dar, Sam Billings, Sheldon Jackson, and Shivam Mavi.

Mumbai Indians traded in Jason Behrendorff from RCB. Suchith, Nicholas Pooran, Priyam Garg, Ravi Samarth, Romario Shepherd, Saurabh Dubey, Sean Abbott, Shashank Singh, Shreyas Gopal, Sushant Mishra, and Vishnu Vinod.
Having retained the least number of players, 12, Sunrisers Hyderabad now have INR 42.25 crores in their purse; the most for any team going into the Auction. They can utilize this purse to purchase a total of 13 players including a maximum of 4 overseas players.
