IPL 2023: Final Official Squad List for All 10 Teams Post Auction

Sam Curran makes history as we look at the official squad and players list for all 10 teams post IPL 2023 Auction. 

The 2023 Indian Premier League Auction was concluded yesterday, and it’s the Auction that made whopping headlines for the records it broke. In only the initial hour, we saw the Auction giving us the three most expensive players in the history of Auction in the form of Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and Ben Stokes.

While Curran went to Punjab Kings for INR 18.5 Cr, Green went to MI for INR 17.5 Cr, and Stokes went to CSK for INR 16.25 Cr. Apart from these three, we saw 77 players more players being sold in the Auction. Except for Punjab Kings, all the other 9 teams exhausted their quota of 8 overseas players in their squad. 

The Auction saw a total of INR 167 Crores being spent on acquiring 80 players; that’s roughly INR 2.1 Cr per player. The Auction also saw a total of 5 players being sold at a price higher than INR 10 crores. So, having seen the financials, let’s look at the official squad and players list for all 10 teams post IPL 2023 Auction. 

#1: Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings purchased 7 players in the Auction. Except for Ajinkya Rahane, all the other 6 players are All-rounders. Ben Stokes was the most expensive player purchased by CSK in the Auction, and he was acquired at a price of INR 16.25 Crores. Apart from Rahane and Stokes, CSK purchased Ajay Mandal, Bhagath Varma, Kyle Jamieson, Nishant Sindhu, and Shaik Rasheed.

#2: Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals purchased a total of 5 players in the IPL 2023 Auction. They didn’t spend money on big players, but instead focused on completing their gaps. Pacer Mukesh Kumar was Delhi Capitals’ most expensive player in the Auction at INR 5.5 Crores. Apart from Mukesh, DC purchased Manish Pandey, Rille Rossouw, Ishant Sharma, and Phil Salt.

#3: Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans purchased a total of 7 players in the Auction. Shivam Mavi was their most expensive player in the Auction at INR 6 Crores. Apart from Mavi, Gujarat purchased Kane Williamson, Odean Smith, KS Bharat, Urvil Patel, Joshua Little, and Mohit Sharma.

WKs: KS Bharat, Matthew Wade (o), Wriddhiman Saha & Urvil Patel

#4: Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR had only INR 7.05 crores with them ahead of the Auction. As expected, they had to go for bargain buys, and they spent INR 5.4 Crores to purchase 8 players. Shakib Al Hasan was their most expensive player from the Auction at INR 1.5 Crores. Apart from Shakib, KKR purchased N. Jagadeesan, Vaibhav Arora, Suyash Sharma, David Wisse, Kulwant Kejroliya, Litton Das, and Mandeep Singh.

WKs: Litton Das (o), N Jagadeesan & Rahmanullah Gurbaz (o)

All-rounders: Andre Russell (o), Anukul Roy, David Wisse (o), Shakib Al Hasan (o), Sunil Narine (o) & Venkatesh Iyer

#5: Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow purchased a good 10 players in the Auction to complete their quota of 25 players. Nicholas Pooran was their most expensive player in the Auction at INR 16 crores. Apart from Pooran, LSG purchased Jaydev Unadkat, Yash Thakur, Romario Shephard, Daniel Sams, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, Swapnil Singh, Naveen Ul-Haq, and Yudhvir Charak.

WKs: Nicholas Pooran (o) & Quinton de Kock (o)

All-rounders: Daniel Sams (o), Deepak Hooda, Karan Sharma, Krishnappa Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kyle Mayers (o), Marcus Stoinis (o), Prerak Mankad, Romario Shephard (o), Swapnil Singh & Yudhvir Charak

#6: Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians purchased 8 players from the Auction to make a total of 24 players in their final squad. They spent a whopping INR 17.5 Crores on Cameron Green; thus making him the second most-expensive player in IPL history. Apart from Green, MI purchased Jhye Richardson, Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, and Raghav Goyal.

WKs: Ishan Kishan, Tristan Stubbs (o) & Vishnu Vinod

#7: Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings created history when they made the most expensive buy in IPL Auction history in the form of Sam Curran for INR 18.50 Crores. Barring him, Punjab Kings bought 5 more players, but all were low-price buys in the form of Sikandar Raza, Harpreet Bhatia, Vidwath Kaveperappa, Mohit Rathee, and Shivam Singh. Even then, Punjab have INR 12 crores left, which was kind of disappointing as they could have added three more players.

#8: Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals needed an all-rounder from the Auction, and they got that in the form of Jason Holder at INR 5.75 Crores. Apart from Holder, RR purchased 8 more low-price players in the form of  Donavon Ferreira, Kunal Rathore, Adam Zampa, KM Asif, Murugan Ashwin, Akash Vashist, Abdul Basith, and Joe Root.

#9: Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB didn’t do much in the Auction, but completed their quota of 25 players by purchasing Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Will Jacks, Manoj Bhandage, Rajan Kumar, Avinash Singh, and Sonu Yadav. But even after getting 7 players from the Auction, none of them can consider themselves lucky to be included in the first-choice playing 11.

Batters: Faf du Plessis (c&o), Rajat Patidar, Suyash Prabhudessai, Virat Kohli & Will Jacks (o)

WKs: Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik & Finn Allen (o)

All-rounders: David Willey (o), Glenn Maxwell (o), Mahipal Lomror, Manoj Bhandage, Shahbaz Ahmed, Sonu Yadav & Wanindu Hasaranga (o)

With INR 42 Crores left ahead of the Auction, SRH were on a shopping spree as they purchased 13 players from the Auction. They spent the most on acquiring Harry Brook for INR 13.25 Crores. Barring Brook, SRH got Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, Adil Rashid, Mayank Markande, Vivrant Sharma, Samarth Vyas, Sanvir Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Dagar, Nitish Reddy, Akeal Hosein, and Anmolpreet Singh.
