IPL 2022: CSK vs KKR Match 1 Predicted Playing 11 for both the Teams
IPL 2022 CSK vs KKR: Chennai Super Kings take on Kolkata Knight Riders in match 1 as we look at the predicted playing 11 of both the teams.
March 26, 2022 marks the beginning of a new era for the hottest T20 Tournament in the world, the Indian Premier League. Not only is the tournament more cash-rich with Tata as the new sponsor, it is also bigger and grander with two new teams and increase match count.
The IPL 2022 shall kick-start with the defending champions CSK taking on last year’s finalists, KKR. As a new normal, the first match isn’t scheduled at the home ground of CSK, but is scheduled at a neutral venue of Mumbai. Also, both the teams are packed up with a lot of firepower, and at the same time are also missing a few key players due to injuries or national duty.
The first match also marks the debut of Shreyas Iyer as captain in Purple colours for KKR. The Shahrukh Khan owned team spent INR 12.5 Cr to acquire his services, and they would be hoping for Iyer to create the same magic as Gautam Gambhir did for them in 2012 and 2014 after becoming their captain in 2011.
To recap, the year 2022 seems like a replica of 2011. Gautam Gambhir had moved away from Delhi to Kolkata, and debuted as captain for KKR in 2011. Similarly, Shreyas Iyer has moved away from Delhi to Kolkata, and is now leading the team. In addition, CSK were the champions in the previous edition, and CSK played KKR in the first match. It’s the same this year as well.
Having said that, it would be interesting to see what strategy MS Dhoni and his men and Shreyas Iyer and his men adopt. So, without wasting much time, let’s look at the best predicted playing 11 and key fantasy picks for CSK vs KKR Match 1 of IPL 2022. Before that, let’s quickly look at the key match details.

IPL 2022 CSK vs KKR: Predicted Playing XI for Chennai Super Kings:
Chennai Super Kings face two big hurdles ahead of the first match. Firstly, Moeen Ali is not available for the first match as confirmed by CSK’s official handle. Moeen Ali’s visa issues couldn’t be cleared, and thus he is expected to miss the first match. Secondly, Deepak Chahar is injured, and will miss most of the tournament.
Owing to these two issues, we should see a change in the batting-order and Team combination for the first match. CSK should most-likely play Shivam Dube in place of Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan in place of Deepak Chahar to balance out the playing 11. However, the batting-order may see a change with Ravindra Jadeja getting an opportunity to bat up the order.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway as openers, CSK should play Robin Uthappa at 3 and Ambati Rayudu at 4. Jadeja could be given more opportunity to bat, hence he could be an ideal bet for number 5. These 5 should be followed by Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni, and Dwayne Bravo. This forms for a good batting-order.
Coming to bowling, the absence of Deepak Chahar means, CSK will have to invest in two overseas bowlers. From the given lot, and looking at the pitch, Chris Jordan and Adam Milne seem an ideal bet. Their psce combined with the guile of Dwayne Bravo seems a perfect pace combo for CSK. Meanwhile, R Hangargekar can be a good addition to the team. Having performed well in the recent World Cup, this could be an opportunity of a lifetime for him.

In addition, KKR’s spearhead bowler, Pat Cummins shall miss the initial few games due to national duty. In place of him, Tim Southee seems an ideal replacement. He should be supported by Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, and Andre Russell.
Coming to the batting-order, Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane should start the innings as openers. Captain Shreyas Iyer should play at number 3.
