IPL 2020 Auction: Final list of Retained Players of all the Teams

Chennai Super Kings retained the most number of players before the IPL 2020 Auction.

With November 15 set as the deadline, all the teams have officially submitted their list of retained and released players before the IPL 2020 Auction. A total of 127 players, including 35 overseas players were retained by the eight IPL franchises. Chennai Super Kings have retained the most number of players, 20, followed by MI and SRH with 18 each. RCB have retained the least number of players, 13. 

Interestingly, there have been many surprise retentions and exclusions. RCB, for example, have retained only 2 overseas. They would be eyeing many big players at the Auction. Meanwhile, CSK and MI have retained their core with maximum retention. KKR have left out many expensive players like Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Carlos Braithwaite, etc. KXIP and RR too have left our many expensive players like Jayadev Unadkat, Varun Chakravarthy, Andrew Tye, Sam Curran, etc. 

Analyzing the purse from the total available INR 8500L, Kings XI Punjab have the most purse available with INR 4270L, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders with INR 3565L. While Mumbai Indians have the least purse available with INR 1305L. The 2020 IPL Auctions are scheduled to take place on December 19, 2019, at Kolkata. Before that, let’s have a look at the official list of retained and released players before the Auction. 

Chennai Super Kings:

CSK’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction: 

Batsmen: Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni (C&WK), Murali Vijay, N Jagadeeshan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Suresh Raina

All-rounders: Kedar Jadhav, Mitchell Santner, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, and Shane Watson.

Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Lungi Ngidi, KM Asif, Monu Kumar, and Shardul Thakur.

Delhi Capitals:

Total Retained Players: 14 | Total Purse Available: INR 2785L

DC’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction:

Batsmen: Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer (C). 

All-rounders: Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Keemo Paul. 

Bowlers: Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, and Sandeep Lamichhane. 

Kings XI Punjab:

Total Retained Players: 16 | Total Purse Available: INR 4270L

KXIP’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction:

Batsmen: Karun Nair, KL Rahul (WK), Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran (WK), and Sarfaraz Khan.

All-rounders: Chris Gayle, Darshan Nalkande, Harpreet Brar, and K Gowtham. 

Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Hardus Viljoen, J Suchith, Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Murugan Ashwin. 

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Total Retained Players: 14 | Total Purse Available: INR 3565L

KKR’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction:

Batsmen: Dinesh Karthik(WK), Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, and Siddhesh Lad.

All-rounders: Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, and Sunil Narine.

Bowlers: Harry Gurney, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier, and Shivam Mavi.

Mumbai Indians: 

Total Retained Players: 18 | Total Purse Available: INR 1305L

MI’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction:

Batsmen: Aditya Tare (WK), Anmolpreet Singh, Ishan Kishan (WK), Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), and Suryakumar Yadav.

Batsmen: Jos Buttler (WK), Manan Vohra, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson (WK), Shashank Singh, and Steve Smith.

All-rounders: Ben Stokes and Mahipal Lomrar. 

Bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Jofra Archer, Mayank Markhande, Rahul Tewatia, Shreyas Gopal, and Varun Aaron.   

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Total Retained Players: 13 | Total Purse Available: INR 2790L

Batsmen: Ab de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Parthiv Patel (WK), and Virat Kohli (C).

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Total Retained Players: 18 | Total Purse Available: INR 1700L

SRH’s final squad before IPL 2020 Auction:

Batsmen: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Shreevats Goswami (WK), and Wriddhiman Saha (WK)

All-rounders: Abhishek Sharma, Mohammad Nabi, and Vijay Shankar. 

Bowlers: Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake, Khaleel Ahmed, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddharth Kaul, and T Natarajan.
