Explained: IPL 2025 All 10 Teams Complete Released Players List

KL Rahul set to be retained by LSG as we look at the players that likely to get released by all 10 teams ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2025 is already kick-started with all teams already planning for the upcoming Mega Auction. With this being a Mega Auction, teams are generally allowed to retain a fewer number of players, thus leaving most of the players under the ‘Released Players’ bracket. To recall, the IPL 2022 Mega Auction had allowed only four players to be retained, and no RTM was available.

However, there could be some flexibility this time around with more than 4 players being allowed to get retained. It is understood that there will be around 6 players being allowed to retain including uncapped players that can be retained at a lower price. While this is good news for the teams, there will still be around 18-19 players that will be released by each team.

Retaining 6 or less than 6 players will be a disadvantage to the teams that have built a solid core over the last few years. But that’s how Mega Auctions are designed so that teams are more competitive after every Mega Auction. So, assuming the teams are allowed to retain 6 best players with a maximum of 4 Indian and 3 Overseas players, let’s look at the players that each team is likely to release ahead of the IPL 2025 Auction.

IPL 2025 Released Players List for All 10 Teams

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Ajinkya Rahane, Sameer Rizvi, Shaik Rasheed, Avanish Aravelly (wk), Ajay Mandal, Daryl Mitchell (o), Mitchell Santner (o), Moeen Ali (o), Nishant Sindhu, Rachin Ravindra (o), Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana (o), Mukesh Choudhary, Mustafizur Rahman (o), Prashant Solanki, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Richard Gleeson (o), Shardul Thakur, Simarjeet Singh & Tushar Deshpande.

The CSK team is likely to release high-profile names like Daryl Mitchell, Ajinkya Rahane, Maheesh Theekshana, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Mustafizur Rahman, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Tushar Deshpande. However, from these Tushar, Theekshana, Santner, Rachin, and Mustafizur Rahman will be on CSK’s radar in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram (o), Anmolpreet Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips (o&wk), Upendra Yadav (wk), Marco Jansen (o), Sanvir Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Wanindu Hasaranga (o), Akash Singh, Fazalhaq Farooqi (o), Jaydev Unadkat, Jhathavedh Subramanyan, Mayank Markande, T Natarajan, Umran Malik & Vijaykant Viyaskanth (o).

Finally, talking about SRH’s released players for IPL 2025, we can see big names like Aiden Markram, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Wanindu Hasaranga, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik moving out. Of these players, barring Mayank and Sundar, all other players may be team’s radar for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Dewald Brevis (o), Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Vishnu Vinod (wk), Anshul Kamboj, Arjun Tendulkar, Mohammad Nabi (o), Naman Dhir, Nehal Wadhera, Romario Shephard (o), Shams Mulani, Shivalik Sharma, Akash Madhwal, Dilshan Madhushanka (o), Gerald Coetzee (o), Jason Behrendorff (o), Kumar Kartikeya, Kwena Maphaka (o), Piyush Chawla & Shreyas Gopal

Talking about Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma is the one that is expected to face the axe with the likes of Hardik, Bumrah, and SKY likely to get retained. Rohit is already contemplating a move to a new franchise after being ripped off Captaincy last year. Aside from Rohit, big names like Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Nabi, Arjun Tendulkar, and Piyush Chawla are likely to get released. From these players, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, and Piyush Chawla could be on MI’s radar for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

Delhi Capitals (DC)

David Warner (o), Harry Brook (o), Prithvi Shaw, Swastik Chhikara, Yash Dhull, Abhishek Porel, Kumar Khushagra (wk), Ricky Bhui (wk), Shai Hope (o&wk), Gulbadin Naib, Lalit Yadav, Sumit Kumar, Anrich Nortje (o), Ishant Sharma, Jhye Richardson (o), Khaleel Ahmed, Lizaad Williams (o), Lungi Ngidi (o), Mukesh Kumar, Pravin Dubey, Rashik Dar & Vicky Ostwal.

Delhi Capitals are likely to release some big-ticket names like David Warner, Pritivh Shaw, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar. All these are quality players, but Nortje, Khaleel, and Mukesh will be on the radar for DC in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Atharva Taide, Harpreet Bhatia, Rilee Rossouw (o), Shikhar Dhawan (c), Shivam Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Jonny Bairstow (o&wk), Prabsimran Singh (wk), Chris Woakes (o), Harpreet Brar, Liam Livingstone (o), Rishi Dhawan, Sikandar Raza (o), Tanay Thyagarajann, Vishwanath Singh, Nathan Ellis (o), Prince Choudhary, Rahul Chahar & Vidhwath Kaperappa

Talking about Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan has already retired from the International and Domestic circuit, so it is likely that he won’t be a part of IPL 2025 too. Aside from Dhawan, PBKS are likely to release Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Sikandar Raza, Prabsimran Singh, Nathan Ellis, and Rahul Chahar. However, PBKS could be after all these players in a bid to buy them at a lower price. 

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Kunal Rathore, Shimron Hetmyer (o), Shubham Dubey, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Donavon Ferreira (o&wk), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (o&wk), Abid Mushtaq, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rovman Powell (o), Adam Zampa (o), Avesh Khan, Keshav Maharaj (o), Kuldeep Sen, Nandre Burger (o), Navdeep Saini, Prasidh Krishna & Sandeep Sharma.

For Rajasthan Royals, big players like Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rovman Powell, Adam Zampa, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen, Sandeep Sharma, and Prasidh Krishna could face the axe. But given the immense potential of these players, RR would want to buy them again in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Ashton Turner (o), Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal, Arshad Khan, Arshin Kulkarni, David Willey (o), Deepak Hooda, Krishnappa Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kyle Mayers (o), Prerak Mankad, Yudhvir Charak, Amit Mishra, M. Siddharth, Matt Henry, Mark Wood (o), Mohsin Khan, Naveen Ul-Haq (o), Shamar Joseph (o), Shivam Mavi & Yash Thakur.

The LSG team is likely to retain KL Rahul after a successful meeting between LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul with Sanjiv calling him a family. With KL Rahul as the confirmed retained player, LSG are likely to release big players like Devdutt Padikkal, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Mark Wood, Mohsin Khan, Naveen Ul-Haq, and Shamar Joseph. However, from these, Krunal Pandya, Mohsin Khan, Mark Wood, and Naveen Ul-Haq will be on LSG’s radar for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Abhinav Manohar, Kane Williamson (o), Matthew Wade (o&wk), BR Sharath (wk), Robin Minz (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Azmatullah Omerzai (o), Jayant Yadav, Shahrukh Khan, Vijay Shankar, Darshan Nalkande, Gurnoor Brar, Joshua Little (o), Kartik Tyagi, Manav Suthar, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad (o), R Sai Kishore, Sandeep Warrier, Spencer Johnson (o), Sushant Mishra & Umesh Yadav.

Gujarat Titans are likely to release big-ticket names like Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha, Shahrukh Khan, Joshua Little, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, R Sai Kishore, and Umesh Yadav. From this list, GT will be eying Shahrukh Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, and R Sai Kishore in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. 

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Jason Roy (o), Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana, KS Bharat (wk), Phil Salt (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (o&wk), Allah Gazanfar (o), Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh, Sherfane Rutherford (o), Chetan Sakariya, Dushmantha Chameera, Gus Atkinson (o), Mitchell Starc (o), Mujeeb Rahman (o), Sakib Hussain, Suyash Sharma, Vaibhav Arora & Varun Chakravarthy.

KKR are likely to release big names like Phil Salt, Mitchell Starc, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana. However, KKR would want all these players back in the team for IPL 2025.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Saurav Chauhan, Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks (o), Anuj Rawat (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Swapnil Singh, Tom Curran (o), Akash Deep, Alzarri Joseph (o), Himanshu Sharma, Karn Sharma, Lockie Ferguson (o), Rajan Kumar, Reece Topley (o), Vyshak Vijaykumar & Yash Dayal.

The RCB team is likely to release players like Will Jacks, retired Dinesh Karthik, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Reece Topley, and Yash Dayal. Of these players, Will Jacks and Yash Dayal could be the team’s radar for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
