The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025 is just a couple of months away, but one thing that will be most exciting to watch is the batting lineup of each team. The IPL 2025 Mega Auction gave a big opportunity to all teams to rectify their mistakes, and build a strong squad. And for sure, if you observe the squad of each team, it looks pretty strong, and each team looks strong on paper, albeit with some weaknesses.

The IPL 2025 will see many quality batters participating in the tournament. Among star Indian batters, we have Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli from RCB, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson from RR, etc. Whereas among star Overseas batters, we have Nicholas Pooran from LSG, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen from SRH, Jos Buttler from RR, etc. 

But if have to analyze the batting lineups of each, how do we go about it. Typically, a batting lineup runs until number 7 position, and for some teams, it can run till number 8 or even number 9. But having 7 batters in the lineup is a trademark of any batting lineup. #10: Delhi Capitals – 8.643

At number 10, we have Delhi Capitals, and a rating of 8.643 is no mug by any means. It’s a good rating, but the competition in the batting lineup is so intense that they stand at the 10th position. Delhi Capitals have a good batting lineup, but the only issue is the lack of experience in the batting. The likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abhishek Porel, Harry Brook, and Ashutosh Sharma are talented batters, but are still unproven in the IPL.

For number 9, we have Punjab Kings, and they lay a similar story to Delhi Capitals in terms of IPL experience. Seeing the batting lineup, Shreyas, Stoinis, and Maxwell are the torch-bearers for them. However, the likes of Prabsimran, Shashank, Wadhera, and Jansen are talented but lack good IPL experience. Hence, PBKS would need their senior players to come out good this IPL.

#8: Kolkata Knight Riders – 8.714

At number 8, we have the KKR team, and they do have a good batting lineup, but trusting their batting is a risky bet. A lot will depend on Sunil Narine’s form. If he clicks like IPL 2024, there is no looking back for the team. However, if he doesn’t fire, then the loopholes in KKR’s batting may get exposed. Also, as compared to last year, the team got de Kock and Rahane in place of Salt and Iyer, which is a degrade overall.

#7: Mumbai Indians – 8.715

Number 7 shall see Mumbai Indians, and their rating looks slightly degraded, only because of an inexperience lower-order. While MI have four solid T20 batters in the form of Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik, the quartet will have to bear the burden of inexperienced lower-order in the form of Robin Minz and Naman Dhir. It can be overcome, but for that, MI will have to be flexible in the batting-order, and Hardik will have to be more selfless in his approach.

#6: Gujarat Titans – 8.750

For number 6, we have Gujarat Titans, and this team relies heavily on their top-order. There is no doubt that GT have one of the best top-orders in the competition. All three are consistent performers, and if at least one of them scores well in every match, GT will be sorted. But if they don’t, how will GT cope with the inexperience of Shahrukh, Rutherford, Tewatia, and Lomror will be a big question.

Coming to number 5, we have the LSG team, and they will be riding heavily on their top 5 batters. Lucknow Super Giants have one the best top 5 batters in the competition. However, just like Mumbai Indians, they too have an experienced and unreliable lower-order in the form of Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad. This can be a big issue, and LSG have to make sure 2 of their top 5 batters have a good IPL 2025.

#4: Rajasthan Royals – 8.786

For number 4, we have the Rajasthan Royals team, and they have a solid batting lineup, except for the lower order. The likes of Yashasvi, Sanju, Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, Hetmyer, and Dhruv make for a strong batting lineup. However, the lack of proper all-rounders means RR will either have to use Shubham Dubey as the impact player, or rely on Hasaranga and Archer for lower-order runs. So, a lot will depend on the top 6 for RR to have a good IPL.

For number 3, we have the CSK team, and they do possess a strong batting lineup. The good thing about CSK is even as they have decent players like Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hooda, they can come out with the help of CSK DNA. There is no doubt about CSK’s batting potential, and having someone like MS Dhoni at 7 and Sam Curran or Ashwin at 8 is a welcome bonus.

#2: Sunrisers Hyderabad – 8.821

Rocking at number 2 is the SRH team, and they have many explosive batters in their side. Having someone like Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the top, and Klaasen as the finisher is a sign of destruction. What’s more, Kishan and Nitish add fuel to the fire in their batting lineup. The only thing SRH is missing is a lower-order, but that weakness can be overcome with the other 5 explosive batters.

Finally, at number 1, we have the RCB team, and after ages, they seem to have assembled batting lineup that looks almost complete. Right from explosive openers to a strong middle-order, and a perfect finishing combo, RCB have everything an ideal batting looks like. All these players come with good experience, and also carry International experience. The only thing that can stop this batting lineup is form of their players.
