India vs South Africa 2024 Final Best T20 Series Squad List

Test players expected to be rested in our final best squad and players list for the India vs South Africa 2024 T20 series.

Amidst the ongoing Test series vs New Zealand, the selectors and the BCCI management are already busy planning for the upcoming India Tour of South Africa 2024. Just after the conclusion of the Test series on November 5, the India team will be touring South Africa for a 4-match T20 series. But with the players from the Test team busy until the 5th of November, will the T20 series vs South Africa have similar players?

Well, if we look at the recent Bangladesh T20 series, not a single player from the Test squad was a part of the T20 series. All 15 players that were chosen in the squad, were not involved with the Test team in any possible way. But will this continue for the South Africa series as well? Well, we will have to  analyze where the Test team will be involved next to see if the players will be packed or not. 

Now, if we look at the upcoming fixture of Team India, the Test team will immediately fly to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar trophy. The BG trophy which consists of 5 Test matches starts on November 22, which means there is hardly a gap of 7 days between the 4th T20I and 1st Test match at Perth. So, given such a short period, it looks unlikely that any player who is a part of the Test team will also be involved in the T20 series.

The second question that comes to mind is about the travelling reserve layers. Currently, for the New Zealand test series, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, and Nitish Reddy are a part of the squad as Travelling reserves. Now, barring Prasidh Krishan, the other three players are also a part of the T20 squad. So, will India, who will see their Test team travel to Australia immediately, take these players also along with them? 

Now, ideally, Travelling reserves are mostly used as net bowlers, and thus are needed as and when the team practices. But Mayank and Nitish are an integral part of the T20 series too. Hence, BCCI might ask these players to travel after the T20 series, and thus should reach somewhere around 18th-19th November. So, overall, expect India to play the same squad with Shivam Dube back in the squad for Tilak Varma, after the former was injured before the Bangladesh series.

Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi & Varun Chakravarthy

Out of 9 T20Is that India have played against South Africa, they have won 6, while losing just 3 matches. Also, India have won their inaugural T20 World Cup here in South Africa itself; thus making them the favourites to win the series.
