IPL 2024: Presenting the Best Impressive Uncapped Players 11

Abhishek Sharma and Prabsimran Singh to open as we look at the most impressive uncapped players 11 for IPL 2024.

Ever since the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2024 started, the talk of the town has been the Impact player rule. Except for BCCI, most of the players and fans are complaining about how the impact player rule has changed the dynamics of the game, and has made it more batting-friendly. In addition, the role of batting all-rounders has significantly reduced.

But amidst all the negatives surrounding the impact player rule, if there is one category of players that has benefitted the most, it is the uncapped players. Given the flexibility of adding an extra player, teams mostly have been using uncapped players for adding that extra player. Thankfully we have seen some amazing uncapped players already this season.

But which uncapped players have impressed the most so far in IPL 2024? Well, let’s look at the stats of each players, and find out the most impressive uncapped players 11 for IPL 2024. As usual, while selecting the final 11, we shall consider at least 5 batting options, 1 wicket-keeper, and 6 bowling options including all-rounders.

Openers – Abhishek Sharma & Prabsimran Singh

Starting with the best openers, the unanimous selection is that of Abhishek Sharma, who has been outstanding so far for SRH in IPL 2024. While Abhishek had scored runs, it is the pace at which he has scored that differentiates him. As of match 41, Abhishek has scored 288 runs at a break-taking strike rate of 219. He already has 26 sixes to his name; the second-most so far this IPL.

Supporting Abhishek shall be Prabsimran Singh as the second opener. Now, we have to select one uncapped keeper, but unfortunately, we don’t have any good name, and the best of all has been Prabsimran Singh. Prab hasn’t had the beats of IPL as yet with 154 runs to his name at a strike rate of 143.9. If not Prab, Abhishek Porel was another choice. But Prab seems a better prospect overall as an opener.

Middle-order – Riyan Parag, Shashank Singh & Nitish Reddy

Coming to number 3, we have Riyan Parag, who has undoubtedly looked the best uncapped player of the season. Amidst a struggling top-order, Riyan Parag has more often than not bailed Rajasthan Royals out of trouble. He currently has a staggering 318 runs to his name from 8 innings at a brilliant average of 63 and a strike rate of 161.6. Such has been his performance that he could well be in contention for T20 World Cup backups, if not the final squad.

Aside from Riyan Parag, Shashank Singh and Nitish Reddy form a brilliant middle-order. Both have been really good while playing for their respective. While Shashank has supported PBKS amidst the failures of batters, Nitish Reddy has shown excellent composure at crucial junctures. Overall, Shashank has 195 runs to his name at a strike rate of 168.1, and Nitish Reddy has 128 runs at a brilliant average of 42.7 and a strike rate of 150.9.

Finishers – Ashutosh Sharma & Abdul Samad

Talking about the finishers, Ashutosh Sharma from PBKS and Abdul Samad from SRH have not only been the best uncapped finishers this season, but can also be considered as one of the best this season among all players. While Ashutosh has scored 159 runs at a superb strike rate of 189.3, Samad has been equally good with 129 runs at a superb strike rate of 211.5.

Primary Spinner – Harpreet Brar

Talking about the primary spinner of the team, there was nothing much to choose with Harpreet Brar being the only good name in front. Harpreet hasn’t been the standout bowler, but has been decent so far this season. He currently has 4 wickets from 8 innings at an economy rate of 7.4. While his economy rate is good, he is far better than what his overall numbers suggest.

Pacers – Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav & Yash Thakur

Finally, talking about the pacers, there are many options to explore in this IPL. There’s Tushar Deshpande from CSK, Vaibhav Arora, from KKR, Akash Madhwal from MI, Mohsin Khan from LSG, etc. But the three that have impressed me the most of far, it is Harshit Rana from KKR, Mayank Yadav, and Yash Thakur from LSG.  All three are the leading pacers for their respective teams, and the stats also suggest the same.

Overall, Harshit Rana has taken 9 wickets from 6 innings at a good average of 20.55 and an economy rate of 9.3. Yash Thakur isn’t far behind with 9 wickets from 7 innings at an average of 28.8 and an economy rate of 10,4. Finally, the best of the lost has been Mayank Yadav, but is currently injured. Mayank has played only three innings, but has taken 6 wickets at a superb average of 9 and an economy rate of 6.
