Mumbai Indians, the best team on paper as we look at the ranking and rating of the best IPL 2024 strongest playing 11 for all 10 teams post Auction.

We have entered 2024, and the hottest topic at the start of the year is the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2024. With the power BCCI has, this is the first time, ICC and all top Teams have reserved a window for IPL from March to May to make sure all the players participate in the IPL.

After an exhaustive and exciting IPL 2024 Auction off the field, 10 teams will be battling it out for the 17th time to have their hands on the much-coveted trophy of the IPL. While teams like MI and CSK have won the IPL five times, there are teams like Delhi, Punjab, and RCB, who are yet to get off the mark with the IPL trophy.    

Having seen a fantastic bidding war at the table, how are teams stacked up when it comes to their strongest playing 11 for IPL 2024? Well, after a successful Auction, we already have the official squad in front of us for all 10 teams. So, how about we analyze their squad, and find out the powerhouse playing 11 for all 10 teams for IPL 2024?

As usual, the teams shall be ranked based on the cumulative ratings of their best 11 players. Players are relatively rated for their last three IPL and Domestic / International form. At the same time, the relative ratings are calculated based on the benchmark players in the respective categories like Openers, Pacers, Spinners, etc. 

IPL 2024 Powerhouse Playing 11 Ranking for All 10 Teams

#10: Sunrisers Hyderabad – IPL 2024 SRH Playing 11

At number 10, we have the SRH team with a playing 11 rating of 8.429. This rating is not less by any margin, but such is the competition that all teams are quite balanced and strong this time. Overall, the SRH team will mostly see Travis Head opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal.

Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen should form the middle-order. Finishing duties shall rely on Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar, which is the only weak link for SRH. Whereas the bowling duties shall be led by Pat Cummins, Bhuvi, Markande, and Natarajan. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

Travis Head, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande & T. Natarajan.

#9: Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2024 RR Playing 11

At number 9, we have the RR team with a playing 11 rating of 8.477. Rajasthan Royals should see the same top 5 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler as openers, Sanju Samson at 3, Shimron Hetmyer at 4, and Dhruv Jurel at 5. With a solid top 5, RR added Rovman Powell as the finisher; thus confirming a great top 6. 

With Ashwin as the only specialist all-rounder, they seem to be lacking in this aspect, and will depend on the impact player rule a lot. Bowling for RR shall rely on Avesh, Praisdh, Boult, and Chahal. However, pace bowling is an area of concern for RR as Avesh and Prasidh aren’t the most reliable T20 bowlers. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Rajasthan Royals (RR):

Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c&wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna & Yuzvendra Chahal.

#8: Royal Challengers Bangalore – IPL 2024 RCB Playing 11

At number 8, we have the RCB team with a playing 11 rating of 8.478. RCB are only marginally better than RR, but their pace bowling is worse than RR’s. RCB’s pace bowling shall be led by Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, and Yash Dayal, which isn’t very inspiring. Similarly, Karn Sharma is their leading spinner, and Green and Maxwell are more all-rounders. 

While the bowling is extremely bad for RCB, they more or less make it with a strong batting lineup. RCB arguably have one of the best top 5 in the competition. Faf and Kohli should open the batting with Rajat Patidar at 3, Green at 4, and Maxwell at 5. With such a strong top 5, RCB would be hoping for good support from lower-order DK, Suyash, Mahipal, and others.

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Suyash Prabhudessai, Alzarri Joseph, Karn Sharma, Mohammed Siraj & Yash Dayal.

#7: Punjab Kings – PBKS Playing 11 2024

At number 7, we have the PBKS team with a playing 11 rating of 8.545. Punjab will see an identical 11 that played in 2011, albeit a better bowling lineup with the addition of Harshal Patel. With Harshal there, at least on paper, PBSK have a good bowling lineup. However, the only issue they have currently is the inexperience middle-order of Prabsimran Singh and Atharva Taide. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Punjab Kings (PBKS):

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Jonny Bairstow, Prabsimran Singh, Atharva Taide, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar & Arshdeep Singh.

#6: Delhi Capitals – DC Playing 11 2024

At number 6, we have the DC team with a playing 11 rating of 8.561. DC will see the return of their Captain, Rishabh Pant after missing out in 2023 due to an accident. With Rishabh back, DC have a  solid top 6, if, of course, Prithvi Shaw maintains his form. With such a good top 6, bowling is not bad either with Nortje, Mukesh, Khaleel, and Kuldeep. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Delhi Capitals (DC):

David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c&wk), Harry Brook, Axar Patel, Kumar Khushagra, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar & Khaleel Ahmed. 

#5: Lucknow Super Giants – IPL 2024 LSG Playing 11

At number 5, we have the LSG team with a playing 11 rating of 8.614. The return of KL Rahul make LSG a stronger unit. If Padikkal and Hooda can bring their A game, LSG have a solid batting lineup even without the Impact player rule. With a great batting, bowling isn’t bad either with the likes of Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, and Shivam Mavi.  

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

Quinton de Kock (wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul (c), Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Mark Wood & Shivam Mavi.

#4: Gujarat Titans – GT Playing 11 2024

At number 4, we have the GT team with a playing 11 rating of 8.644. The loss of Hardik Pandya is a big blow for the GT as their playing 11 ranking reduces from 1 to 4. However, a strong bowling lineup still uplifts the GT team with the likes of Rashid, Shami, Mohit, and Spencer. With the impact player rule, they will get another good Indian bowler in the form of Umesh, Darshan, or others. 

Other than the bowling, GT’s batting is good too. We should see Captain Shubman Gill at the top in combination with Wriddhiman Saha. If Kane Williamson is available without any injury issues, he could form a great middle-order trio with Sudharsan and Miller. Meanwhile, with SRK added, he along with Tewatia is good for finishing duties.  

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Gujarat Titans (GT):

Shubman Gill (c), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Sai Sudarsan, Kane Williamson, David Miller, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma & Spencer Johnson.

#3: Kolkata Knight Riders – IPL 2024 KKR Playing 11

Talking about number 3, we have a surprise in the form of KKR with a playing 11 rating of 8.674.  KKR will see the return of their Captain Shreyas Iyer this year; thus making their batting stronger. With a good batting lineup, Starc gives solid firepower in the bowling department, which already has Harshit Rana, Suyash Sharma, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Suyash Sharma & Varun Chakravarthy.

#2: Chennai Super Kings – IPL 2024 CSK Playing 11

At number 2, we have the CSK team with a playing 11 rating of 8.705. CSK did a fantastic job in the IPL 2024 Auction, and as a result, will see a change in their playing 11 with Daryl Mitchell taking Rahane’s place, and Ajinkya Rahane / Sameer Rizvi playing as an impact player. With a solid batting till 7, Shardul is good enough to replace Pathirana; thus making an all-Indian pace attack. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c&wk), Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Maheesh Theekshana & Mukesh Choudhary. 

#1: Mumbai Indians – IPL 2024 MI Playing 11

Finally, at numero uno, we undoubtedly have the MI team with a playing 11 rating of 8.886. The addition of Hardik Pandya to the MI team makes their batting lineup the strongest in the competition. Even the bowling lineup has great potential with the likes of Bumrah, Chawla, Madhushanka, Coetzee, Behrendorff, and Madhwal. But the only issue is the experience of a few bowlers while playing in the IPL. 

IPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for Mumbai Indians (MI):

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Tim David, Piyush Chawla, Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madhushanka & Jasprit Bumrah. 

So, that’s about the IPL 2024 playing 11 ranking and rating for all 10 teams. Overall, MI and CSK will once again be the teams that will draw the maximum attention.
