CWC 2023: All 10 Teams Official Squad and Players List

150 players set to play in India as we look at the official final squad and players list for all 10 teams for ICC ODI World Cup 2023. 

It’s past the 27th of September, and all 10 teams have officially confirmed their 15-member squad including changes, if any for the ODI World Cup 2023. Ten teams will officially battle it out for 48 matches for a period of 46 days on different Indian wickets in a bid to have their hands on the much-coveted World Cup 2023 trophy. 

The 2023 ODI World Cup will see a total of 10 teams participating in the tournament. The teams include Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. It’s unfortunate, but the 2-times World champions West Indies couldn’t qualify for the World Cup.

Overall, the ODI World Cup 2023 will see a total of 150 players participating in the tournament. Breaking down further, there are 35 batters, 19 wicket-keepers, 46 all-rounders, 13 primary spinners, and 37 primary pacers. But how is the squad for all 10 teams placed? Please note, there won’t be changes allowed in the World Cup squad unless special approval has been taken from the ICC. So, it is assumed that India would go forward with Axar Patel and Australia would go forward with Travis Head and Ashton Agar. There will be replacements named only if players are ruled out from here. 

#1: Afghanistan

Afghanistan team would be eying their maiden World Cup title under the leadership of Hashmatullah Shahidi. Of the 15 players that Afghanistan have selected, there are 4 front-line batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 4 all-rounders, and 5 bowlers. For Afghanistan to do well, they will depend on their star players, Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

#2: Australia

The 5-times ODI World Cup Champions will have Pat Cummins at the helm for World Cup 2023. Of the 15 players that Australia have selected, there are 4 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 4 all-rounders, and 5 bowlers. For Australia to have a successful campaign, a lot would depend on David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, and Adam Zampa.

Bangladesh would be aiming for their maiden World Cup trophy under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh would depend on their star players Najmul Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, and Taskin Ahmed.

The defending champions England will be without their World Cup-winning Captain Eoin Morgan, and instead will be led by swashbuckling batter Jos Buttler. England have selected 3 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 6 all-rounders, and 4 bowlers in their squad. England would depend on their match winners Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Joe Root, and Mark Wood to do well.

While a lot of players are important for India, the ones that would definitely need to fire are Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah.

For New Zealand to do well, a lot would depend on their star players, Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Ish Sodhi, and Trent Boult.

For the Netherlands to make a mark, a lot would depend on Scott Edwards, Bas de Leede, Vikram Singh, and Logan van Beek.
