IPL 2024: Confirmed Final Playoffs Qualification Scenario for RCB

RCB expected to finish fourth with 14 points as we look at the best playoffs qualification scenario for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2024.

New year, new season, and we are once again at a stage of the Indian Premier League where the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans and their management are back with their calculators. After starting the season on a deep low, RCB have made a stunning comeback to win their last 4 games on the trot. They are currently at 10 points from 12 games, and are truly in contention for the IPL 2024 Playoffs.

The RCB fans, who were slamming the team left and right after a disastrous start to the campaign, are all back with a bang with calculators in their hand. Calculators and RCB Fans is still a better love story than Twilight, and this season proving the same again. But what led to this inspirational comeback for RCB? Well, it’s mostly the bowling that has seen a great comeback with almost every bowler bowling to full potential, and supporting the team.

While RCB are back to winning ways, and are well in contention for a Playoffs spot, the road ahead won’t be easy as they have 4 obstacles to overcome before they actually make it to the Playofffs. But what are these obstacles, and what does RCB need to do to make sure they qualify for the Playoffs? Well, let’s look at the updated best Playoffs qualification scenario for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Current Status for IPL 2024

M: 12 // PTS: 10 // NRR: +0.217

Next matches: DC (H) & CSK (H)

Now, RCB has 10 points from 12 games, and they are still 7th in the points table. But thankfully, RCB are still well in contention for a Playoffs spot, and only PBKS and MI have been eliminated so far as they can at max reach to 12 points. Needless to say, for RCB to qualify, they need to compulsorily win both the matches, which will take them to 14 points. But 14 points won’t be enough as RCB need to overcome 4 big obstacles given RR and KKR will always be above RCB.

Obstacle Number 1 – SRH

Now, SRH are already at 14 points, and even if they lose both their matches, they will still remain on 14 points. But what RCB need from SRH is that they don’t win both their matches. NRR won’t be much of an issue in that case as they are almost identical. But if SRH win one, in that case, RCB would need CSK to lose their next three matches, and expect LSG to lose one against MI or DC. DC won’t end at 16 anyway if RCB win their match against DC.

Obstacle Number 2 – CSK

CSK are currently in fourth position with 12 points from 11 games. But with 3 more matches to go, CSK are realistically in place to qualify for the Playoffs. For RCB to make it to the Playoffs, CSK should not win any of their remaining matches. Cause if CSK win one, they end on 14 points But their NRR is so high that RCB will need big time catching up. If CSK win more than one, than SRH needs to lose both their matches, and LSG need to lose one match.

Obstacle Number 3 – LSG

LSG currently have 12 points from 12 games, and they are still good enough to qualify for the Playoffs. But for RCB to push through, LSG need to just lose one of their remaining two matches, and that should technically be enough given their big negative NRR. If LSG win two then SRH/ CSK should not end up on 16 points. Hence, SRH and CSK, both should lose all their remaining matches. This looks the most difficult scenario for RCB.

Obstacle Number 4 – DC/GT

Finally, their last obstacle is Delhi Capitals, who are currently at 12 points from 12 games, but with a bad NRR. Technically, Delhi Capitals are not an obstacle to RCB as DC face RCB in their next match. So, whoever loses will mostly get eliminated. If DC win, RCB gets eliminated, and if RCB wins, DC will need a huge victory to qualify at 14 points. Meanwhile, even if GT win all their remaining matches, their NRR is so bad that they can never catch RCB in the remaining three matches.

So, that’s about the best playoffs qualification scenario for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2024. A win against PBKS has kept the Playoffs door open for RCB, but the road ahead looks very difficult for them. Realistically, RR, KKR, CSK, and SRH seems best placed to qualify for the Playoffs. But wherever RCB end in the points table, they should be proud of the way they have turned things around in the second half of IPL 2024.
